Massage While Pregnant?!
Let me start off by saying that massage is safe during pregnancy and is even in many cases encouraged!
Many different studies have shown how beneficial massage can be while your pregnant for both mom and growing baby. Massage not only reduces stress, tension, and anxiety; but while pregnant massage can also help sleeping patterns improve, and relieve the general soreness from just being pregnant and all the changes that your body goes through. Regular massage while pregnant can also help improve your labor outcomes for both mother and baby.
Pain around your hips, or pelvis during pregnancy is deemed as "normal" but can not only be a sign of your body changing to prepare for baby, but also a sign of tight muscles which can cause complications in later stages of pregnancy and even into delivery and beyond.
Swelling, and a lot of it, is common during pregnancy and can be reduced with regular massage. A prenatal massage uses Swedish techniques which use a mild pressure to increase circulation, and decrease stress and muscle tension. Swedish massage combined with proper positioning during pregnancy benefits both mom and baby!
During a prenatal massage session with First Impressions Massage you will benefit from the many effects of massage, but also work with me to set goals as well as receive self care instructions to keep your pregnancy going smoothly!
